Scott Ruland attended the State University of New York at Fredonia and graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Music Therapy. Scott also majored in Classical Guitar Performance and completed a minor in Psychology. He interned at Bethany Children’s Home in Pennsylvania. At Bethany, he worked in a residential setting with adolescents with trauma histories. This gave Scott the opportunity to develop the use of turntables and other DJ technology into music therapy group and individual work. He continues to expand on this experience through his work at Roman Music Therapy Services with at-risk youth. Scott plans to continue sharing this work with the music therapy community to help develop creative ways to connect with this population as well as identify other populations that could benefit from using turntables and other DJ technology.
In addition, Scott has experience in community-based work with children with autism, behavioral disorders, domestic violence and other trauma, and homelessness. He also works as a case manager with adults who are often homeless and suffer from other mental health diagnosis.
