Meredith Roman Pizzi, MT-BC
Executive Director/Board Certified Music Therapist
Meredith Roman Pizzi, MT-BC, is the Founder and Director of Roman Music Therapy Services, a music therapy agency which focuses on serving children and adults with social, emotional, cognitive, behavioral, physical, and educational needs.
She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Therapy from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA and completed her music therapy internship at Alternatives for Children in Long Island, NY working in an early intervention and therapeutic integrated preschool setting.
Primary areas of Meredith’s clinical work include working with children and young adults from newborn to 22 years of age in private, educational, and community settings. She has extensive experience working with young children with and without disabilities, individuals of all ages with complex medical and developmental needs, non-verbal learners, individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Down Syndrome, Williams Syndrome, and other developmental disabilities.
Meredith supervises music therapy students in their training and provides numerous presentations and workshops throughout the year to a wide-ranging audience including parents, educators, librarians and music therapists.
Meredith is also engaged in the local Melrose business community as a member of the Chamber of Commerce and participant in the Melrose Victorian Fair, Halloween Trick or Treating on Main St. and the Melrose Gives Back downtown festival.

Laura Micheli, MT-BC
Board Certified Music Therapist
Laura Micheli graduated from Salem State College with a Bachelor’s degree in Music and a minor in Psychology in 2009. She received her Master’s degree in Music Therapy and Licensed Mental Health Counseling from Lesley University. Her experience includes working with geriatric populations in a rehabilitation and nursing center, as well as children, adolescents, adults, and elderly with developmental disabilities in various settings including day habilitation facilities, after school programs, and private homes. Some of the highlights of her training included celebrating birthdays with Music Therapy Birthday Parties.
Laura is excited to work with a diverse group of people and is especially interested in working with children with special needs, adults with developmental disabilities, and the elderly.
Lisa Spall, MT-BC, CCLS
Board Certified Music Therapist, Certified Child Life Specialist
Lisa received her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Therapy from Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. She spent a year at Shriners Hospital for Children, a pediatric burn center in Boston, earning credits toward certifications in Music Therapy and Child Life. Her training experience also includes working with children with developmental disabilities, older adults with dementia, and young adults in psychiatric care.
While interning, Lisa contributed to editing and writing a published journal article in Music and Medicine on electronic music technology in pediatric care. Recently, she assisted in authoring a chapter in Innovations in Medical Music Therapy, a book that will be published in the following year. Her hope is the opportunity to contribute further to music therapy literature in the future.
Lisa is eager to work with a diverse population of clients, but her keen interests are in working with children and continuing to learn about the many facets of early childhood development.
Kristina Barbo, MT-BC
Board Certified Music Therapist
Kristina Barbo graduated from Anna Maria College with a Bachelors Degree in Music Therapy and Vocal Performance. She completed her internship at Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown, MA, working with children 6-14 years old with visual impairments and multiple disabilities. Kristina has also worked with elderly clients with Dementia, adults with developmental disabilities, and children and young adults with severe and profound, multiple disabilities.
Kristina is passionate about working with clients with developmental disabilities, and is especially interested in providing services for children and adults.
Scott Ruland, MT-BC
Board Certified Music Therapist
Scott Ruland attended the State University of New York at Fredonia and graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Music Therapy. Scott also majored in Classical Guitar Performance and completed a minor in Psychology. He interned at Bethany Children’s Home in Pennsylvania. At Bethany, he worked in a residential setting with adolescents with trauma histories. This gave Scott the opportunity to develop the use of turntables and other DJ technology into music therapy group and individual work. He continues to expand on this experience through his work at Roman Music Therapy Services with at-risk youth. Scott plans to continue sharing this work with the music therapy community to help develop creative ways to connect with this population as well as identify other populations that could benefit from using turntables and other DJ technology.
In addition, Scott has experience in community-based work with children with autism, behavioral disorders, domestic violence and other trauma, and homelessness. He also works as a case manager with adults who are often homeless and suffer from other mental health diagnosis.
Scott enjoys working with children and at-risk youth. He is also passionate about creating innovative ways to utilize technology in a clinical setting.
Mary Kerrigan, MT-BC
Board Certified Music Therapist
Mary Kerrigan graduated from Immaculata University in Pennsylvania, in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music and a Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy degree. She completed her yearlong internship experience at Massachusetts Hospital School in Canton, MA, working with children and adolescents between the ages of 6 to 22 years old with multiple disabilities. She also has clinical music therapy experience with the elderly, early childhood, and adults in psychiatric care. She currently works with adults with developmental disabilities in the Worcester area. She is excited to join the team at Roman Music Therapy Services and to continue to provide services to clients with developmental disabilities, especially children.

Leslie Aylward
Office Manager
Leslie is a graduate from the University of Connecticut where she received a B.S degree in Fitness Management. She completed an internship in the Boston area and decided to stay!
Throughout the last 15 years, Leslie has obtained so many vital business skills in the positions she has held as a corporate trainer, day care owner, executive assistant and scheduling manager. Each position has built on each other and has led her to become quite versed in customer service and support as well as being especially interested in building a growing business.
Leslie’s passion is in helping others achieve their goals and aspirations.
