SERVING DEVOTED PARENTS AND CAREGIVERS IN THE GREATER BOSTON AREA,

INCLUDING THE NORTH SHORE, SOUTH SHORE AND METRO WEST

Give your wee ones an enriching outlet for their natural love of tempo, musical instruments, and movement.

At Sprouting Melodies, we cater to newborns, infants, babies, toddlers, siblings and preschoolers using songs, instruments and movement to encourage musical, social, physical, and emotional growth and learning.

A development-oriented program, Sprouting Melodies was founded by a Board Certified Music Therapist and Early Intervention Developmental Specialist with a passion for helping busy, multi-tasking families like yours ensure a fun, target-rich learning environment where children can explore, play and grow as they learn priceless socialization skills.

And because class sizes are limited, your child will receive the age-appropriate attention and interaction he or she needs to develop properly.

“Your class gives my son confidence and stronger language. I have tried both Kindermusik and Music Together. Hands down, the content and overall experience at Sprouting Melodies is much better than theirs. Sprouting Melodies was the very best music class we’ve ever participated in. You’re so good at what you do. We were never less than impressed.  I know it’s your credentials and expertise that make your class so much more than a typical music class.”

What makes Sprouting Melodies so special?

All of our classes are led by an MT-BC (Board Certified Music Therapist)

MT-BC’s are trained to use music in clinical and educational settings with individuals of all ages to address their physical, emotional, cognitive and social needs. Board Certified Music Therapists successfully complete an approved university’s academic program and clinical training before they can sit for the written board exam to certify as a Music Therapist. They must also re-certify every five years by getting continuing education credits or by taking a written exam to demonstrate current-level competencies.

At Sprouting Melodies, we have extensive training and clinical experience. This means we can create and lead musical “adventures” that meet your child’s needs and move his or her group forward developmentally on a weekly basis. We also have the clinical training and judgment to modify classes to meet unique individual and group needs.

All Sprouting Melodies classes are age-specific

Sprouting Melodies™ is specially designed to meet the needs of babies and toddlers as they grow. For example, six month old babies have unique developmental needs, different responses to music, and different relationships with their parents or caregivers than do two year olds. We’re very aware of specific age differences, so at Sprouting Melodies your child will receive age-appropriate activities in a small group setting with children of his or her own developmental stage. In our classes, no one is ever bored or left out! We always focus on age- and stage-appropriate fun, music and learning.

Music Makers

Introducing Music Makers, our newest program for preschoolers and kindergarten children:

Music Makers, a drop-off program, is led by Board Certified Music Therapists. Music Makers leaders focus on modeling positive and respectful peer interaction, communication, and social skills development. Music Makers groups are inclusive so children become aware of the rainbow of diversity that exists across our great land. Leaders model appropriate attitudes and behaviors so children learn that another person’s differences aren’t deal breakers and that they will find good friends everywhere in the color, culture and capabilities spectrum.

Please Note: Although we recommend same-age groupings, we also offer a Family Sprouts mixed-age class for siblings and other children whose needs fit a specific time frame or for parents who prefer a mixed-age grouping.

Sprouting Melodies classes aren’t decided by outsiders

Because there are no cookie-cutter kids, we offer no cookie-cutter classes. In our classes, it is our own music therapists who make the decisions about which songs and activities are most likely to resonate with the children we serve. We quickly discover what works best to motivate your child to engage fully so his or her time here is well spent.

Who should attend Sprouting Melodies? Everyone under Seven (and their Caregivers)!

  • Babies, toddlers and preschoolers who are developing along typical lines
  • Premature infants and toddlers
  • Young children with genetic syndromes
  • Children experiencing developmental delays

My daughter’s [earlier] inability to communicate with words was a great source of frustration for both of us. In just a few short weeks at Sprouting Melodies, by singing the same songs around the house, her language skills have exploded!  Her willingness to try using words has greatly improved and dramatically cut down on tantrums. I highly recommend these classes and am grateful that she seems to be catching up with her peers.”

What happens in a Sprouting Melodies group?

We provide a structured routine of music activities (instrument play, movement, and singing) that address the development areas of young ones’ lives. As a parent or caregiver, you will participate with your children in each session. All Sprouting Melodies families receive a song booklet with the words to our songs and a special resource on music and early childhood development published by Zero to Three, a national organization promoting healthy childhood development. Get ready for some seriously fun play time!

Where are Sprouting Melodies classes held?

Classes are held at Roman Music Therapy Services, 423 Main St., Melrose, MA, next to Papa Gino’s and above the new coffee shop. Stroller parking is available outside the building.
